Laurie was inspired to do hair from her grandfather who was a barber in Lawrenceville. She has been doing hair in the Pittsburgh area for over 30 years. A graduate from Pittsburgh Barber School, Laurie started her career at the Monroeville Mall in 1980 before relocating to the Strip District in 1986. In 1997, Laurie took ownership of Hair by Design and the business has been growing with the Strip since then.

While Laurie still loves doing hair color, perms and styles, her barber roots keep her grounded in clipper work and straight razor shaves.

Frankie has been in the hair industry for 40 years and says that each day has given him a new reason to love it more. Co-workers and clients alike are well aware of the passion he holds for his career.

Frankie began his love-affair with hair in his hometown at New Castle Beauty School. During his career, he has taken classes and been trained in New York City, Miami, and Las Vegas. While he loves all spectrums of the industry, his specialty is hair color. For twenty two years, he worked as a manager for Shear Performance, located in Parkway Center Mall in Pittsburgh. Although he enjoyed that opportunity, he couldn’t wait to get back to all of his clients and everyday hands-on work.

Frankie says he’s learned how important it is to find a passion and follow it. Because of that, he won’t expect anything less of himself than to be behind the chair for at least another twenty years to not only satisfy his clients, but also to find self-fulfillment
